KAMPUNGBOYCITYGAL/KAMPUNGBOYCITYGAL - A MALAYSIAN FOOD & TRAVEL BLOG

Few months back, MAS flew some of the bloggers up north for a FOOD TRIP. A day trip can’t get any cooler than this – fly to Penang in the morning just to eat a meal or two and fly back in the evening itself.

Pretty air stewardess greeted us with a wide, pretty and an attractive smile.

We were among the first batch of lucky users that get to check in using our mobile devices through MHmobile-flymas.mobi service. I checked in the night before and this was the QR code that I received via sms.

Pretty Iza placing her HP screen under the mobile check-in scanner to get validated. Just check in from your mobile phone to obtain the QR code and you are set to go, as easy as that.

We reached Penang airport in the blink of an eye. It took us only 45 minutes compared to a 4 to 5 hours drive up north. To top if off, MAS hired a tour guide who knows every nook and cranny of Penang island to bring us around. Such bliss!

# Line Clear Nasi Kandar

Our first stop was Line Clear Nasi Kandar located in an alley off Penang Road, between two commercial buildings. Contrary to it’s name, the line never clears! Be prepared to queue and wait for your turn.

Aiwei and I shared a plate of nasi kandar with curry chicken, curry mutton, some vege and gravy “campur” ala “banjir” style. After some bites, the spiciness from the curry gravy started to kick in and our eyes got all watery and red and we perspired from head to toe. No joke!

#2 Penang Road Teochew Cendol.

From Line Clear, we walked towards Lebuh Keng Kwee, off Penang Road for the most famous cendol stall in Penang. You can have it while standing beside the stall or seated comfortably at Joo Hooi coffee shop located down the road.

#3 Coconut Jelly, Dato Keramat Road.

We were very fortunate to have CK Lam, the famous food blogger from Penang. She brought us to this coconut jelly place at Jalan Dato Keramat. According to her, the outer husk of the coconut is initially removed and then roasted in the oven. After a cooling period, they are then placed in the cooler room. The jelly was formed during the hot and cold process.

The jelly was so good! It has a nice jello consistency and a good natural coconut flavour. Perfect for a scorching hot day!

#4 Pasembur @ Padang Kota Food Court that comes with a stunning sea view.

Almost every stall in the food court are selling the same identical stuff: Pasembur! We randomly chose a stall and pick our orders. The pasembur was nothing great though.

There are no remedies to it, but I do have something that makes me feel better – reliable broadband connection. Celcom Broadband that offers you the widest coverage (over 71% of Malaysia’s populated areas) at a very affordable price.

And the best thing is, Celcom Sale is back and they have a lot of exciting offers on the broadband packages. Check it out!
